TASTE GEORGIAN HISTORY

SAPERAVI 2019

This is probably the most famous Georgian variety in the world. In Georgia, no red grape can compare with Saperavi in terms of prevalence, and, like Rkatsiteli, it is found in many regions apart of Kakheti, for example, the famous Rachuli Saperavi. Saperavi is grown throughout Kakheti. Saperavi wines from different regions differ quite significantly from one another, but this wine is always easily recognizable due to its unforgettable taste and flavor. Saperavi is often aged in qvevri, but it is also used to produce classic Saperavi wines, including those aged in oak barrels. Saperavi is the basis of famous wines produced in the areas of the same name - Mukuzani, Napareuli, Akhasheni, Kindzmarauli, Kvareli.

Best places - Mukuzani, Akhasheni, Napareuli, Kondoli, Eniseli, Kindzmarauli, Shilda, Kvareli ... In addition to these and other famous places, this variety is found throughout Kakheti, from Gare Kakheti (Iori Valley), including the Alazani Valley, from Akhmeta to Dedoplistskaro.
